Mobility and Employment of Michigan’s Millennial Workforce
The economic growth of a region is driven by the education attainment of its workforce. Therefore, retention of talented recent college graduates is of vital importance to states that are interested in competing globally. College graduates are one of a state's greatest resources, so there is need to identify and understand the decisions they make upon graduation.
With this need in mind, iLabs, the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Center for Innovation Research, conducted a research study for the Detroit Regional Chamber with funding support from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Presidents Council of State Universities of Michigan, and the Michigan Municipal League. The survey included 7,054 graduates of Michigan public universities in response to over 41,000 emails sent between late-January and March 2013.
